Cavies

The Show hasheld a Cavy Section since 2012, and it has gone from strength to strength.

Cavies, alsoknown as guinea pigs, have a great following in Cornwall as well as all aroundthe country, with us having a few Cavy Clubs right here in the Southwest.

The Show hasgreat support from exhibitors, with us receiving a good number of exhibitsevery year. This allows us to have a large array of different breeds on showfor everyone to enjoy.

We havesomething for everyone, from the experienced exhibitors to adult and children’spet classes so even if you just have a pair of pet guinea pigs in your gardenand would be interested in getting involved in showing them you will be madevery welcome.

Caviesare judged in age categories:

3-5 monthsold (cavies under 3 months are not permitted to enter the Show)

5-8 monthsold

Adult (over8 months)

Children canenter the Child’s Pet Section from the child’s 5th birthday and the JuvenilePurebred Section from their 7th birthday.

Cavy Section 2026

We are thrilled to announce that after excellent support in 2025 and the Cavy Section growing in popularity, our Section will now be renamed Stithians Show Cavy Championships with our 2026 Show being a National Cavy Club 4 Star Show ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

We are looking forward to another excellent Show with lots on offer. Our open judges for 2026 will all be National Cavy Club Executive Judges in line with us holding a four-star Show. Thank you to Evelyne van Vliet, Don Payne and Jme Eglinnton-Parkes for agreeing to come and spend the day with us at Cornwall’s best one day event.

Our Pet Section will be judged by Mary Jaffa along with Carol Payne judging the Novice &Novelty Sections.

We are thrilled to have been asked to host the following breed clubs for Stock Shows; Teddy Cavy Club, National Tortoise & White Cavy Club as well as the Rare Varieties Cavy Club, which will be holding a Rare Variety Breed in-focus talk during the day.  Alongside these Stock Shows, the Cavy Section has been well supported with Point Shows for the following clubs: Dutch Cavy Club, National Himalayan & Californian Cavy Club, Swiss Cavy Club and English Self Cavy Club Adult Points. We will also have a display of cavies on show for the public to vote on their favourite. The cavy with the most votes will be awarded the Public’s Choice Award rosette.

If you are interested in showing cavies at Stithians this year, you will be made very welcome and please feel free to contact the Section Secretary for any help or advice on entering.

If you do not wish to show, yet you have an interest in cavies, please come along to the Cavy Section which is open all day and stays open during judging.

With nearly600 classes this year there will be plenty for all spectators and visitors to see, including a multitude of different breeds on show. Which one will be your favourite?

If you have any questions on the day, please feel free to ask any Show Officials who will be wearing badges and will be happy to help.

We have the making of a grand day and look forward to welcoming all exhibitors from near and far along with all the Stithians Show visitors on 13th July.
